Mike, I can't wait to see the doggie winners. I don't have a really appealing picture of my own, but I do have a suggestion for Butters. His trajectory sounds just like that of my late dog Jasper. Get a Help-Em-Up harness for him. My vet recommended one and it became essential. Here's their web site:

https://helpemup.com/

The harness, which has a front and a rear part, has a handle above the shoulders and another above the hips. It's the rear handle that will be essential. My Jasper, with Cushings and some dementia, started collapsing and falling down the half-dozen steps to the yard, even when going up. Being able to hold the rear handle let me keep him under control. And you *will* be going up and down more frequently as Butters becomes less and less able to wait before needing to go to the bathroom.

Best of luck!

In my neighbourhood, I know most of the dogs by name.

I know some of the people at the other end of the leash by name. If I remember, I greet the human as well as the dog.

Very sorry to hear that poor Butters isn't doing well. This must be a very hard time for you.

You've given him a great life.

Best wishes.

Mike, I posted earlier about the Help-Em-Up harness for Butters. I still have the one we used with Jasper, and I would be happy to send it to you.

If you are interested, go to the website for the harness and figure out what size Butters needs. I will check ours to see. Jasper was a 65-lb dog, not as beefy as Butters looks in your pictures, though he had a broad chest. These harnesses are quite adjustable and it might fit.

Let me know if you are interested.

Oddly, I have never taken a picture of Moxie that really captures her to my satisfaction. We form a symbiote, she and I, and that's part of the problem, I rationalize. I also don't have a self-portrait I'd share voluntarily. ;) There's too much of a gap between my self-perception (Heroic!) and reality (I aspire to Dad-bod).

So forgive me for sitting this one out. Moxie lives a life in action and my attempts to reduce it to a 500th of a second have all been failures. Also, photographically she is a Zone II dog in a Zone VI world with a bit of Zone X in her muzzle these days, so she's a bit of a stretch. Can't wait to see the pix, Mike.

"not everyone likes dogs"
Huh? You lost me there.
