A brief off-topic post—
A new study by the Pew Research Center has determined that as mainstream media coverage of the Iraq war has sunk to below 10% of all news, only barely more than one-quarter of Americans know the approximate number of our countrymen and women who have died in Iraq.
Regardless of your feelings about the war, regardless of your politics, it seems obscene to forget these people. None of them wanted to die, and none of them went there for that purpose. Yet, in the event, they have sacrificed everything—their futures, their future progeny, the opportunity to be there for their families and children—they have lost the whole world, forever. They died because their country asked them to serve, and their service was to all of us—pro-war, anti-war, and even those simply not paying attention.
They matter. As of March 10th, their number was 3,974. So now you know again, in case you'd lost track.
