So you say you want to score big? All at once, the brass ring, el enchilada entero?
Well, get this—the Paparazzi expert on the TV program "Access Hollywood" estimates that the first photograph of Paris Hilton in her jail cell "would be worth half a million dollars." It won't be easy, though—even guards are being searched for cameras.
So get to work on that jailhouse food worker disguise and that fake prison work pass. Could be worth it!

And we lose a reader: [To multiple recipients] "Having been offline for ten days, and pretty much off the grid, I'd like to stay in this very positive state of mind. So I'm driving less (didn't drive at all on vacation) and doing some filtering. Actually, if you're getting this note, you're being filtered because you're running a 'Paris Hilton' lead story. As I log onto my favorite sites to catch up with the news, I'm finding it best to delete my bookmarks for all sites that perpetuate the Paris Hilton meme. Hopefully, this will also filter out Anna-Nicole-Smith-related material. Thanks for all your good work in the past and best of luck with your chosen endeavors." [Name withheld]
(I thought this was hilarious, even though—or maybe because—I sympatize! —MJ)
You mean, she hasn't already scheduled Annie Liebowitz to come in and make one?

We may be witnessing the collapse of civilization.

There are some things that just aren't worth any amount of money. Giving Paris Hilton any extra 'exposure' is on my list...

I can't explain why, but this girl's face must be the about the fakest I've ever seen, looks like a plastic thing. And her "personality" appears to be the same, but only more so. I can't see how such a cheap person gets that share of public attention.

"Paris Hilton is famous for being famous."
Unfortunately, I don't know who to credit the quote to...

"hey what's happened to that artistic nudes ad? a little creative cropping going on to draw attention to her lovely face?"
Tod,
The problem is not innate prudishness, but offices and schools...some people cannot have anything close to a "nude" open on their computers at work, and some schools will actually block sites with any nude or near-nude images on school computers. I heard from one teacher who said that with the old ad, he would no longer be able to recommend the site to his (high school) students. As far as I know he's not a prude either. It's just the reality of the environments some folks are dealing with. Eolake was very kind to cooperate with me on this.

Well, for what it's worth, I don't see this as a "Paris Hilton story," I see it as a story about how insane the celeb media industry is (with particular reference to photographers and paparazzi).

For every reader you lose by not towing some ridiculous line, I wonder how many you gain by being yourself?

Give her a cellphone and she'll do it herself.
