...And I'd love to know what you think. How about we do a purely democratic Print Offer, planned for, say, next Summer?

Here's what popped into my mind. People could propose pictures for consideration—their own, or (with permission) someone else's. I'd pick ten or twelve that I thought were good, throw them up on the site, and allow people to vote on which one they like best. The winner would become a finalist. Then a few weeks or a month later we'd do the same thing again, but maybe with someone else doing the initial choosing so that all the choices wouldn't be straitjacketed with only one person's taste.

By late Spring '12 we'd have eight or ten finalists. I'd vet actual prints at that stage, and among those that passed muster, we'd have one final vote. The top three would be offered as a TOP Print Offer.

It would be like a contest, except that the "judges" would be TOP's audience as a whole and the "prize" would be the opportunity to sell in a large venue with a good track record of sales. And the size of the prize would be determined purely democratically—it would depend on how many people were actually moved to open their wallets and buy the winners.

What say ye to that—?

UPDATE: I'd like to do this. I think it will be fun, and, more to the point, instructive. I think I'll learn something from it and I'd be surprised if some of the participants don't learn from the experience too.
