Don't forget we're having a TOP dinner at Yokoso Japanese Restaurant near Milwaukee this Sunday. Five people have signed up to attend so far, which promises a lively conversation at the TOP table! You're invited if you can make it. Here's a link to the post with all the info.
Mike
Please post photos for those of us on the other side of the ocean.
(I'm guessing someone will bring a camera....)

Wish I was there, &c.
Just a silly question: why does clicking on the banner not actually take one to the main page, but to a page with a link to the main page? And why does clicking said link open said main page on a new tab/window? This has been bugging me ever since I discovered TOP but I only ask now because of all the people who will be there and I can't. Not, of course, that I'm jealous or cranky, you understand.

Excellent Mike: Grace and I will be there. I'll be working our church festival beforehand, so let me know if you want any delicious turkey dinners for takeout... :-)

Ludovic,
It's supposed to be an About Us / Welcome page, due to the fact that people first dicovering a blog have a tendency to judge the entire site based on whatever post is at the top of the pile at the time. Especially since I tend to follow the same subject over several posts at a time, that can give a distorted impression at any given time of what the site as a whole is about. You don't need an intro page, because you already know what the site is about. But people stumbling across it for the first time might need it spelled out for them.
It was David Hobby's idea; I can't take credit for it.

Mike,
Up 'til the 11th hour I was hoping I would be able to come up for this. After all, it features two of my favorites packed into a single event: Japanese food and photography!
But, alas, I won't be back soon enough to make the trip up there...so I'm going to miss your outing. Nuts...really.
Well, hoist a good sake on me!

Ah, I see. I would have thought people would look for an "about" page instead, but I see the point.
At any rate, I'll be eating Japanese food on Sunday evening so that I can feel in sort of communion with the lucky ones who will share the dinner with you - have a great time, all!

Hi Mike,
Count me in along with at least one more guest - possibly more.

I'll second all of that, except that I AM admittedly jealous, although not cranky.
Anyway, I appreciate your explanation Mike, but perhaps clicking the link could open in the same tab/window? OK, maybe I'm a little cranky.
