I have a completely off-topic lazy Saturday movie question for the TOP Brain Trust. I'm wondering if you can name a well-written, compelling, engaging movie that meets both of two conditions:
2. Doesn't use guns or gun-substitutes as a means of adding to or driving the dramatics.
(By "fantastical" I mean anything having to do with fantasy—talking cars or lions; monsters; vampires; futurism; science fiction; comic book characters; myths; ghosts (I mean ghosts presented as if they're actual—ghosts as a psychological reality, as in Nicholas Roeg's Don't Look Now, wouldn't be a disqualifier); sentient robots; superheroes; etc. And by "gun substitutes" I mean anything serving the same function in drama as guns do—say, bows and arrows in Deliverance or swords in a swashbuckler or samurai movie.)
Any good ones come to mind?
CODA: Thanks very much for all the suggestions!

Wind - with Matthew Modine. The story is ok, but the photography is really interesting.

I'll suggest The Station Agent... one of my favorite films satisfying both conditions.

If you can accept Australian as a form of English, you might find these three refreshing:
The Dish
The Castle
The Man Who Sued God
All three are guaranteed to bring a smile to your face.

I don't know about anyone else, but I'm still interested to hear what movie you ended up watching.
