Note: I haven't posted any "featured" comments here, not wishing to influence anyone's answer to the poll. But there are a number of excellent comments, which are well worth reading. Also interesting: the divergence of opinion in the comments, with good arguments on both sides of the issue. —MJ
I'm in the position where I have a D200, have skipped the D300, and want the next Nikon prosumer DSLR. The next DSLR I buy will have to have significantly better autofocus and much better low light/high ISO performance than the model I have now.
Those are the things that will get me to upgrade to a new body. I really don't care if it has video, but if it does great, and if not, so what? Video is not a deal breaker either way.
If my camera produces crap pictures it'll be because of the user, not because it can also shoot video.
